Open the App Store from an official source

If a service offers an iOS app, follow its link from the official website and check that it opens the App Store listing. Verify the seller name, privacy details, support website and update date. Similar names and icons do not prove that two listings belong to the same company.

Do not install configuration profiles or certificate files from an unsolicited message to access a payment app. If a service cannot be found in the official store, confirm with its official support page and consider a browser alternative only if it is offered there.

Check permissions and account protection

Review requests for notifications, camera, location, contacts or other data in the context of the task. A permission prompt is not proof that the app is trustworthy. You can usually deny optional access and revisit the decision in Settings. If the app asks for device access unrelated to its function, pause.

Protect the device with a passcode and available biometric lock. Keep iOS and apps current, avoid sharing a device passcode, and do not approve payment prompts you did not initiate. A wallet PIN, password or one-time code should remain private even when a person claims to be customer care.

Compare the app with the mobile website

An official mobile website can be a reasonable alternative if a native app is unavailable. Check that the address is the exact official domain and that the connection is secure. A browser bookmark should be created from a verified page rather than a link from an unsolicited message.

App and website features can differ. Verify payment options, account requirements and privacy terms in the current service documentation; do not assume one channel inherits all features of the other.
