A mobile-money provider may publish its own transaction tariffs, while a merchant may apply separate rules, fees, limits or currency treatment. A displayed amount in KES can still be affected by conversion or settlement details if another currency is involved. Read the provider’s current tariff and the merchant’s cashier disclosure for your specific method.

The CBK directory confirms authorised payment-service providers, not their live tariffs or a given merchant’s availability. Airtel Kenya’s official Airtel Money section links to tariffs and charges; Safaricom publishes current M-PESA service information. Use those official pages as starting points and confirm the terms applicable to your own transaction.

Questions to answer before confirming

• What exact amount will leave the wallet, bank or card?
• What amount and currency should the merchant receive?
• Does the provider or merchant disclose a fee or conversion?
• What are the current minimum and maximum transaction values?
• Are there daily, account, verification or method-specific restrictions?
• What happens if the transaction is pending, reversed or declined?

Why this site avoids fixed fee tables

Tariffs and limits can change, and a table copied into a guide can become misleading. They may also differ between sending, merchant payment, cash-out, card authorisation and withdrawal. BetPayKE does not publish assumed fee amounts or promise that a transaction fits a user’s account.

If the cashier does not show the full cost or applicable limit, pause and ask the provider or merchant through its official support route before authorising. Do not rely on an unofficial agent to quote or collect fees.
